On November 10, 2007, a group of us attended the Cycle World show in Fort Worth, Texas. Here are some photos from that show.

Here's a photo of me on a Victory Vision Street. This thing is huge (over 800 lbs.), and it has a profile that George Jetson would approve of. I think if I had this I'd ride it to work every day, even in the rain. The aerodynamics should keep me pretty dry. (I wonder if I can get it with air conditioning.)

The engine's displacement and power are very near to that of my Saturn. Unfortunately, the list price is $18,999, which is more than we paid for our last new car!

Victory had a company there taking the photos, which you could download a couple of days later. Normally I avoid being in pictures (that's the advantage of holding the camera!), but I wanted to see if I looked tiny on this thing. Nope... looks fine to me!

Here are some photos I took. (Well, the first few were taken by Jacquelyn and Emily :-)

(Click on any picture to see a 1600x1200 version. They're about 600k each.)

Jim, Dianne, and Brian riding ahead of Jacquely, Emily, and myswlf in the car.

Jim on his Sabre.

The three riders.

Guess this one's pointless, except for eating disk space.

Emily turned the camera around!

Jacquelyn on a Buell. I couldn't get her to go into the proper "knee dragging" position!

Here's a classic BMW single. I couldn't find out what year it was from, but if it isn't a twin, it must be really old.

This is a 1973 Kawasaki Triple.

Here's a modern flat-track racing bike built from a Harley-Davidson.

This is a land-speed-record Harley Davidson from the 40s, I believe.

Here's the current land-speed-record holding motorcycle -- over 350 mph!

This is a Ridley motorcycle, built on an aftermarket Harley Davidson chassis, but with Ridley's own engine and automatic transmission.

Here's another Ridley. This one was neat to sit on... felt like a beach cruiser bicycle!

South Korean manufacturer Hyosung makes this 250, and also a 650 on the same chassis, that is very much like a Suzuki SV.

This Kawasaki Versys (for "Versatile System") is a general purpose bike that will do great commuting duty, as well as some light off-road or trail riding.

Here's a custom Suzuki Hayabusa

I forgot what this is! Looks like a Victory. Victory is an American brand, made by Polaris Industries.

And this is a Victory Vision Tour, like the one I'm on in the photo at the top of the page, except it has a trunk.

This new Moto Guzzi California looks a whole lot like an Italian police motorcycle from the 60s, doesn't it?

And this Moto Guzzi Breva is one of my favorite modern motorcycles.

This is a Piaggio MP3 scooter. It has two wheels in front, but leans like a two-wheeler. The gentleman trying it out climbed out of a wheelchair... looks like he found a bike he can ride!

You can't really tell from the photo, but there's a guy on a motorcycle riding around in that sphere. The link goes to a tiny video I took with my cell phone. Preston Landers is the rider's name.

Here's a Star Raider. "Star" is Yamaha's brand of cruiser style motorcycles.

This is Valentino Rossi's 2006 Yamaha MotoGP bike.

And finally, this is a Ural motorcycle with a side car. This bike is made in Russia. It's a little-changed descendant of Russian WWII motorcycles, reverse-engineered from the BMW of the day. It only does 60 mph with the sidecar. And it's only about $10,000, which is very inexpensive for a sidecar rig. Looks like fun, leisurely travel... stay off of the Interstate! (I don't know who the kid in the sidecar is.)
