JOHN  8:32
Introduction:
     1. John 8:32.
     2. On Board:

             "YE  shall
              KNOW  the
              TRUTH, and the truth shaLl make
              YOU FREE."

Body:
  I. "YE"
     1. Personal pronoun. Talking to ME.
     2. Cf. a funeral: We read of them daily., But, how personal it
        becomes when it is our loved on in the casket.
     3. Psa. 23 -- "The Lord is MY shepherd."
     4. All God has done has been done for ME.
     5. John 3:16 -- Loved the world -- Includes everyone, but it
            also includes me, you.
     6. Acts 22:10 -- "Lord what shall I do?"
        Acts 22:10 -- "appointed for thee to do."
     7. The Lord has always expected activity--- DOING. Mt. 7:24
     8. Religion is not something men get; it is something to do.
     9. Not what i would like to do, But, what does the Lord expect.
    10. Jer. 10:25 -- Not in man that walketh to direct own steps.
    11. Prov. 14:12 -- a way that seemeth right unto man, but the
            ends thereof are the ways of death.

 II. "KNOW" -- From Greek word "Gnosis" (Negative--Agnostic)
     1. Takes knowledge.
     2. Not emotional appeal or some inner feeling.
     3. 2 Pet. 2:20 -- knowledge leads to escape from sin.
         NOTE: danger of apostasy here.
     4. Rom. 10:1-3 -- Jews had zeal, but not knowledge.
     5. Rom. 1:28 -- Look at the condition of man when he turns away
             from God's revelation--knowledge.
     6. Do we know more of God's revelation this week than we did
        last week? Constant need to study.

III. "TRUTH" -- Subjective knowledge. Comes from without, not within
     1. Jn. 14:6 -- "I am the way, the truth and the life...."
     2. Man must come to know Christ.
     3. Man may know many things, science, math, medicine, go to the
        moon, etc.
     4. But, until he comes to know THE TRUTH, still ignorant.
     5. Where is that truth found??
     6. Jn. 17:17 -- Thy word is truth.
     7. Thus, must come to know God's Revelation.
     8. Gal. 2:5 -- the truth of the gospel.
     9. Rom. 1:16 -- gospel makes one free.

 IV. "YOU FREE" -- opposite of slavery, bondage of sin.
     1. Yet, one becomes a servant.
     2. But, we serve by choice, freely.
     3. Cf. Civil war. Many slaves, who were freed, remained with
        their masters as servants. Servants by choice.
     4. Rom. 6:17,18,22 -- Freed to serve.
     5. Gal. 5:1 -- made free.
     6. Not free from sickness, problems, heartaches, etc.
     7. But, free from sin and its consequences.
     8. Free to serve, having been redeemed, purchased--Acts 20:28.
     9. Christ died to free "ME" "YOU" from sin.
    10. 2 Cor. 5:17-21.
    11. Acts 22:16 -- Sins washed away, removed, cleansed.

Conclusion:

     1. Each one is in one of two positions -- in "sin" or "free."
     2. It is by choice.
